Overview
 
The department was established in 1993 in accordance to a bilateral agreement by Vilnius Archbishop and Rector of the then Vilnius Pedagogical University. It currently has 38 undergraduate and 11 master students. Over the last 5 years the department has had visiting lecturers from Austria, France and Italy.
 
Available study programmes
Undergraduate: Catholic Religion Studies. Full-time (4 years) and part-time (5.5 years) studies, 240 ECTS credits.
Master: Pedagogy of Christian Anthropology. Full-time (2 years) and part-time (3 years) studies, 120 ECTS credits.

Biblical Anthropology, Bioethics, Church Art, Church Law Foundations, Church Social Education, Dogmatic Theology, Fundamental Theology, General Introduction to the Holy Scripture, General Theology of the Morale, History of Religions, History of the Church, Independent Pedagogical Practice, Informal Religious Education Practice, Introduction to Studies, Introduction to Theology, Latin Language, Liturgics and Theology of Spirituality, New Religion Movements, Observer Practice, Pastoral Catechesis and its Didactics, Patristics, Pedagogical Assistant Practice, Pedagogical Practice under the Care of a Mentor, Philosophical Anthropology, Philosophy of Religion, Religious Education Methods, Special Theology of the Morale, Theology and Exegesis of the New Testament, Theology and Exegesis of the Old Testament. All the subjects are taught in Lithuanian language. Additional courses taught in English: Christian Ethnic Culture, Religious Researches; additional courses taught in Polish: Historia Kościoła Katolickiego na Litwie, Historia Uniwersytetu Wileńskiego.

All the subjects are taught in Lithuanian language.

The research team published 4 scientific articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and constructed 7 scientific source publications.
 
Religious education methodology
Research team: G. R. Rugevičiūtė.
Over the past 5 years the researchers have published 4 scientific articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals referred in international databases; materials for 2 international scientific conferences; 8 methodical and education books for schools; conducted 24 qualification seminars for Religion teachers.
