The Staff
History and Overview
The Faculty of Sports and Health Education is a relatively new university subdivision, established in 2005. The faculty mainly teaches Physical Education, but also trains Health Education teachers.
The Mission of the faculty is to train pedagogues who are highly capable of working in different educational institutions and sport organisations.
The faculty has 8 professors, 12 associate professors, 9 lecturers and 5 assistant lecturers. Currently there are over 1000 Bachelor, 20 Master and 5 PhD students attending subjects taught by the faculty.
The faculty cooperates with these institutions: University of Tartu (Estonia), Latvian Academy of Sport Education (Latvia), Gdansk University of Physical Education and Sport (Poland), Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education (Poland), University of Szczecin (Poland), Eszterházy Károly College (Hungary), Technical University of Lisbon (Portugal), North Glasgow College (Scotland), Dumlupınar University (Turkey), Haliç University (Turkey), Belarusian State University of Physical Culture (Belarus), Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (Russia), Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Kazakhstan).
The faculty is also a member of the Baltic Sport Science Society along with the University of Tartu, Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education and Latvian Academy of Sports Education. Each year the Society organises a three day sport science conference that also allows special entries for young scientists. In addition, the Society organises week long seminars for first year PhD students.

Undergraduate: Physical Education (Subject pedagogy, Bachelor of Sport, Pedagogue), full-time and part-time studies.
Master studies: Physical Education and Sport (Master of Education), full-time studies.
Doctoral studies: Those who seek a scientific carrier or those having a master‘s degree and seeking to become highly qualified teachers my choose Doctoral Studies of Education.
Main research topics
- The effectiveness of the implementation of pupil and student physical and sport education contemporary theory and technology paradigm;
- Investigation of the training and readiness dynamics of Lithuanian young athletes, the Olympic team and Olympic reserve athletes;
- Health risk factors of education process participants and society members;
- Health education and health promotion possibilities for education process participants.
